A new project approved by the Danube Transnational Programme Monitoring Committee entitled ACCELERATOR has been publicly kicked off on 20-21 February, 2017 in Sfantu Gheorghe, Covasna, Romania. ACCELERATOR’s full title is “Developing accelerators to provide better access to innovation finance for SMEs”. Innovative SMEs in all participating regions of ACCELERATOR are hindered by access to equity particularly in their early stage development. Therefore ACCELERATOR engages in exploring and piloting the innovative path of acceleration programmes (a kind of investment readiness programme) towards improved business support in the Danube region. The lead partner of the project is Széchenyi Tőkealap-kezelő Zrt and altogether 10 partners from 8 countries form the partnership. The project will last until June 2019. We at Liontaria provide the partnership level project management of ACCELERATOR for the smooth implementation of the project. The public kick-off event attracted more than 60 participants including startups, business support organisations, equity finance organisation and public stakeholders. Together with the public kick-off event, the first working group meeting and the first steering committee meeting was held.
